 Here is a timely activity you might be able to fit into your remaining time with students this spring. Peter Reynolds, author/illustrator of "The Dot" has generously created this template for Dream Seeds where students may collect their dreams. What a nice way to send them off for the summer, with some goals and aspirations to work towards! Katie Add Comment  Memorial Day Art Project!!! This link will take you to an easy art lesson marking Memorial Day designed for kindergarten students. Follow the directions and make a colorful flag with your students. This could make a great newsletter blurb!! If you can't fit in using her Halloween items before the big day, look ahead to Thanksgiving, and Christmas. And don't forget.... she even has Library signs! And bulletin board materials, coloring pages and activities galore. The lady is amazing! I just shared it with my son, who is teaching English as a second language to a group of preschoolers in Moscow. Joel Henriques has generously shared his Printable Toys with the public on his blog. He may think they're for preschoolers but I think lots of older children will enjoy adding some color and using them for a variety of creative activities. Maybe they'll even be inspired to design some of their own! I personally love the Travel Size Paris set and think you could pair this with books like How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World as well as Eloise and the Madeline series, Babar, The Invention of Hugo Cabret and The Inkdrinker series to name a few. You could extend the concept to a world wide display by adding his Sydney Opera House and then maybe having the students create some other notable landmarks.  Over the holiday break no less!!! I'm sure intrigued and see a book in her TBR (to be read) pile that I heard about just last week....Breadcrumbs by Anne Ursu that I might be inspired to go find at Gullivers or B & N and read for the event! I could get a Kindle version and start tonight but then how would I be able to loan it or donate it to a local library?? Katie  The public library is offering a couple events worthy of sharing with your students. On Monday, September 26th, a No School Day, they are offering a Drop-In Crafts event with the theme of Hats They say, "Drop by the Berry Room anytime from 1:00 to 5:00 PM and make a free hat craft with materials supplied by the library. For ages 3 and up. " Also they are putting together a School Berry Room Bulletin Board and inviting students to show their school spirit by participating.
