I'm pleased to be able to share access to Shannon Miller's Keynote address at AKLA 2013- Be The Change You Want To See In The World and it's a gold mine of information. Shannon is the Energizer Bunny of school librarians but full of tips and tricks for starting out slow and gradually adding to your repertoire of digital tools. In her afternoon session, Empower Your Students to Create Connect and Collaborate With Each Other, she took the time to walk folks through setting up Tweet Deck to make Twitter a manageable tool. That little tip alone was huge for us Twitter challenged folk. She also shared her 2012-13 K-12 Digital Citizenship, Technology, Library Science Curriculum and said anyone was welcome to utilize it, just give her credit. She also said she keeps improving it so check back often. I hope you'll all take a moment to check out what Shannon has to share. Katie Add Comment I found a wonderful site created by the librarian at Franklin LRC, with ideas for using QR codes in libraries. While we may not have access to all the resources she mentions there are certainly a lot we can use! And if you have time check out the other portions of her website. Katie This blog posting has a great idea for using QR codes in the school library setting. AND the blog is a fine example of using the blog as a web 2.0 tool to get the word out about what's happenin' in the library. To the left is a QR code which takes you to the Library Media Services webpage. If you'd like more information on using QR codes don't hestitate to contact us at LMS. |
