While you're at it think about telling your students a little about Jane Addams and her role in history and the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom. Start planning now for Womens' History Month in March by checking out their web site which is chock full of information. The 2011 theme is "Our History is Our Strength: A Woman's Perspective"

This would be a great link to have on your library page and to share with parents.
These resources were compiled jointly by the American Library Association and the Association for Library Service to Children.  They appear to be for PreK up through Middle School. They have a website of the month which might be a great spot to get a well reviewed site if you wanted to highlight a website each
Go to http://www.ala.org/greatsites and check it out. Notice that the link shown here is different than what ends up in your browser address bar. They offer the shorter address on the initial webpage.  Nice touch!

So, check it out and make good use of the site.                         Katie

Did you know there are a number of items available at Library Media Services to support teaching the "constitution?" Go to Destiny at http://destiny.k12northstar.org, Elementary folks login at your school and then set your "location menus" to All District Library and check the box next to District Media. Secondary folks go to Destiny and then select either the District Media collection for video/DVDs or the Library Media Services collection for books. Then click on Resource Lists in the left hand menu at either location. Look for a list titled Constitution Day.
Elementary library staff may want to  create Resource Lists for their school.

Elementary staff could also see if this vendor has anything they'd like to add -

And, last but not least,  be sure to checkout what is available at Discovery Education in our Online Resources at -
http://www.k12northstar.org/library-media-services/online-library-resources
After login do a search on "constitution" and be sure to look at Discovery's new feature called Theme Page in the left hand menu. They have a Theme Page just for Constitution Day which groups all their videos and related materials.

And as always if you have recommendations for additions to the LMS collections give us a call at 452-2000 x243 or send us an email at lms@k12northstar.org.
